I took a train from downtown LA to North Hollywood to hang out with one of the baddest drummers in the world. He’s also an amazing songwriter/producer – Gorden Campbell.

He invited me out to his studio and I learned a whole lot about a subject he teaches at Musicians Institute – gospel drumming. 

It’s amazing how much I don’t know and how much he does. He’s a master on that topic and all things music related out here in this beautiful city.

I sometimes wonder how different my life would have been if I chose to come here after college instead of NYC. It all worked out because my musical theater experience and gigs afforded me the opportunity to spend so much time in this amazing state. 

it was nice catching up with him and getting a pair of his new signature sticks. I’m gonna try them out tonight at Ain’t Too Proud. Maybe they will help me sound as good as he does!
