I watched Bohemian Rhapsody with my daughter yesterday. She and I heard the movie was good and after we finished it, we agreed with the general consensus – very well done. After it was over, I searched the internet and played her some footage of Queen’s performance at Top Of The Pops from YouTube. I also watched the entire 1985 Live Aid performance with her so she could see the actual group in action.

I almost forgot how great they were. Almost.

I am not against biopics, but with all that is available to see now on YouTube, I wonder why people just don’t check out the real thing? It’s all right there for us to see, isn’t it?

I understand how good certain TV specials can be. The Jackson 5, The Temptations, New Edition and other groups had “made for TV” movies produced, and in my opinion, they were really well done. Recent movies like Get On Up, Rocket Man and the highest grossing one of them all, Bohemian Rhapsody, are cool and all, but I want to know the real story.

Maybe it’s just me?

I’m glad biopics are produced because I feel the majority of people doesn’t like documentaries like I do. I guess it’s not as sexy as someone else playing the original characters of their group they used to like. I guess I should stay in my lane because I’m part of a production that is doing just that. My musical Ain’t Too Proud – The Life And Times Of The Temptations, takes off where the TV miniseries left off. It simply takes the story from the TV mini-series and puts it on a broadway stage. It’s not the Temps, but it tells their story – very well I I must say so!

I need to watch this Queen documentary again. It’s a BBC doc that came out a while ago and is so much more detailed than the movie. I guess that’s why I prefer documentaries.
