I have been following Modern Drummer since I was a young man just learning how to play the drums.

At one point in time, I owned just about every issue from 1979-1999. I kept them all in a trunk in my parents’ basement. I passed them on when I moved into my new place here in the Bronx recently. I gave them to a young drummer who wanted to read these gems. I still have a few key issues in my possession and love the fact that they are still putting out great content.

There are a few things I’ve wanted to do in my career.

1) Make a living from just playing drums – check!

2) Be in Modern Drummer – check!

3) Play Madison Square Garden.

I’m trying to get to #3 but if I don’t get there, I can live with myself – lol!

Let me tell you, It’s truly an honor to finally be in this magazine.

Shout out to Patricia Jones for making this happen and Gregg Tischman for the great photos!
