We start rehearsal for this show in two weeks! I can’t wait.

“The Des McAnuff-helmed production will play Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre at Center Theatre Group August 21 through September 30, as well as Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre October 10 through November 17 through Mirvish Productions.

As previously announced, the musical will also play the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., with performances running June 19 through July 22.

Ain’t Too Proud features a book by Kennedy Prize-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau and choreography by Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo. The musical charts the rise of the famed R&B group through such classics as “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”

A Broadway transfer was initially speculated for the 2017–2018 season, though producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman confirmed toward the end of the Berkeley run that the show would instead play another limited engagement regionally before a potential future Broadway bow. No Broadway engagement or timeline has been confirmed following the newly added engagements.“
