I decided to take a little walk down Central Park West this afternoon. As I was admiring the buildings on this side of the park, an older man named Frank asked if I liked this building, the San Remo. Of course I said yes, and we struck up a conversation. He’s been here 40 years, has a German accent, is French and is now living with his second wife on the fourth floor. It was a great conversation about architecture, living in New York, how easy life is in Paris is, the New York of old versus New York of 2019, and how to take in what’s around you in every moment.

It’s funny how it takes people that aren’t from here to enjoy the beautiful things that are right in front of our faces. Finding a New Yorker to chat with while waking down the street is like trying to hold water in an open palm.

I like nice people. What a great ending to my day.
