I always wanted to check this place out. I remember when it first opened many years ago and they didn’t even have their liquor license. I don’t know why I never made it back but I’m not sure if I need to come here again. It looks cool inside but I don’t know…the vibe didn’t sit right with me. They have a jam session starting after this band gets done; at least that’s what I heard on my way out. A jam session on a Wednesday night from 1AM-4AM? Really?
I’m sure the kids are 22 years old and just graduated from music school. Or maybe they are still in music school at NYC. Who stays up that late on a Wednesday? I don’t think I did that often when I was new here.

Fortunately, I didn’t have to pay yet another cover charge. It was due to the fact I was wearing my new Aint Too Proud swag! I got a new hat today.

When I got to the door of the venue, the doorman looked at me and asked if I was in Ain’t Too Proud. I told him that I played drums for the show. He said, “You can go right in!” Thank your Mr. No Cover Charge Doorman!

Maybe he likes my show?

I’m glad I got in for free. I wasn’t into the band and the Jameson I ordered set me back $16! My Bushmills at The Bitter End was only $6!!! The prices for booze in NYC…they as crazy as the prices for medical procedures at various doctor’s offices. There is no rhyme nor reason. I guess I should expect to pay a minimum of $15 for anything here. It’s why I rarely pay for more than one or two drinks when I go out. You gotta start early at home-lol!

Smalls was cool but I need to head back to spots where I know the music is on fire.
