I’ve had the good fortune to be involved in two broadway musicals where the lead producers were humane, thoughtful, and easy to work for. The other Broadway show I was in seemed to have “producers” who thought they were one of the four of us on stage. Many times, it appeared they thought they were more important than the lead in the play/musical. At parties, they often wondered who I was. Whatever bro…

The producers of Memphis were so great that they had a tenth-anniversary party in 2019. Why? Because they wanted to! The show opened in 2009 and closed in 2012, but they threw a reunion party anyway. That’s how cool they were. I still run into them from time to time—nothing but great energy.

The producers of Ain’t Too Proud? Just as good, in my opinion. They’ve done things for the cast/crew/musicians that I hear other shows haven’t—and they keep doing it! I just got word today about more kind and generous measures taken by our lead producers to help people until the show hopefully starts again.

I wish more people were like Ira Pittleman and Tom Hulce. The world would be a better place.
