The weeks before New Year’s Eve were spent trying to either solidify plans to party or to play a lucrative gig. After 40 years of that, I no longer feel the desire for that pursuit.

I spent a nice quiet day with my girlfriend watching one of her dear friends get married at their home in NJ. It was such a nice ceremony and intimate wedding.

Afterward, we decided to go to one of the restaurants near me and have a nice quiet dinner, then head home. It felt nice to not have to stress about plans for the night.

I had no gig, I wasn’t dragging drums through Times Square or through a catering hall. And most important, I had no stress. It was a great way to usher in the new year.

I don’t want to do what I used to do anymore. I like this MUCH better.

I’m moving onto a new phase in my life and intend on enjoying as much of the next 48 years as possible.
