My mother and father.

I am relieved that I could have both of them see Ain’t Too Proud recently. I’ve been working on this produciton for so long and was worried that my mother wouldn’t be able to see it. She made it, in style and enjoyed every minute.

I’ve played drums for as long as I can remember. Playing on pots and pans as a toddler, then finally getting a set of drums as a young kid. I probably made their afternoons a living hell by practicing in the basement every afternoon during middle and high school, but hey, it sure has paid off. I made it to the pinnacle of my profession. It really doesn’t get too much better than this. I thank both of them for all they have done to support over all of these years.

It hasn’t been easy and I’ve had to bump heads with them from time to time. I was never giving up my dream of being a professional musician and as any musician knows, it’s easy to give up. When people tell you to get a “real job” at every turn, it can be quite discouraging.

At times they suggested the same, primarily out of concern for my wel being and my survival, but were always there when I needed them. My mother purchased my first professional drum set and my father got my second. My mom paid for my drum lessons and my dad helped me through the lean years here in this incredibly expensive city.

I’m happy I could pay the back just a little by treating them to this show and showing them a good time for at least one day.

I love my job and I love my parents.
