New York City.

So many musicians…so many incredible musicians.

On my way to check out a venue I haven’t been to yet called Smalls, I realized I was near the 55 Bar. There is always top notch musicians here. I had no idea who was going to be playing, but I’m glad I stepped in.

These cover charges are gonna make me go broke, but to see Fima Ephron play was worth it! He’s one of my all time favorite NYC bass players. I loved him when he played in the Screaming Headless Torsos back in the 90’s and I had the pleasure of playing with him when he subbed for George Farmer on bass when we were at Memphis The Musical 10 years ago. He’s no joke… but damn…the drummer Nate Wood! Wow. He’s so much fun to watch. These guys can play their asses off.

I love watching musicians who are a million times better than me. It’s inspirational. Maybe when I’m 73 I’ll be as good as him if I start practicing 10 hours a day from now on.

I need to hang out more often. Let me just get this bank loan application filled out first. It’s expensive to be entertained here in The Big Apple.
