Social media. So many are afraid of it. So many find it negative, harmful, a waste of time, a drain…and yes, sometimes that is true.
I find it powerful.
It’s how I met Brandi.
I had a blog many years ago about fatherhood/family/divorce/social issues that I used as a way to vent and express my feelings about what happened to me after my ordeal in the “justice system.” There is little justice, and it certainly ain’t civil in the cesspool they call Family Court.
I reached many people through my writing during 2012-2017-Brandi being one of them. I’ve started migrating the old posts to my eponymous website and will be writing new content on a daily basis in 2020 about similar issues and much more.
I feel Facebook is cool to debate and discuss things from time to time, but it’s time to step up my game and make real change. Change in my pocketbook as well as change in NY state law.
Brandi and I had similar experiences in family court. She found me by searching for information about the ridiculous system NY state has when it comes to child support. We connected on Facebook years later.
While Bryn and I were in the Rochester area visiting her family over the holidays, we met at Wegmans to have coffee.
Yes, I met a Facebook friend in person and now we are friends in real life. She is such a nice person and a great person to chat with. She and Bryn have a lot in common since they grew up in this area.
It was really nice to connect with someone off line. That’s what makes social media “social.” Try it sometime.
Thanks for meeting with us Brandi! We’ll be back up there soon. Better yet, bring your family to NYC!
