I saw my daughter perform in the ensemble of her high school’s production of Hairspray this weekend. It was her second musical in two years. The kids did a wonderful job. I never saw the Broadway show but did see the latest movie. I liked what they did better than the movie to be honest.
I wonder if she will abandon her passion for cooking and try to pursue a career in theater. Hmmmmm.
Maybe if I advise her to study law, business, medicine or some STEM thing, and keep telling her to get a REAL JOB, she might follow in her dad’s footsteps, reject everything I say, and do whatever it takes to be a success in the field she’s truly passionate about. That’s exactly what I did. It all worked out in the long term.
Why do people, in 2019, still think the only way to be a success in life is to follow really bad advice, study the things you despise in college, get a terrible job in corporate America that sucks the soul from you on a daily basis only to retire, look back and wonder, what if?
