If you could play 25% fewer notes, get paid 75% more, and 100% of the crowd you are playing for is happy, would you play fewer notes? Or…would you continue and try to please your musician friends who are watching and/or listening to you and use us as many 16th notes as humanly possible?

I don’t know y’all but I’m choosing the money over trying to impress my colleagues. I’d much rather get the money, see a dance floor full of women having a great time and forget about trying to get pats on the back from dudes telling me how great of a drummer I am.

What is up with so many musicians playing a half million notes within a four measure phrase?

It seems as if the musicians who play all of these notes are trying to outdo one another and not paying attention to the audience at all.

Maybe I just don’t get it.
