An old friend asked me to bring some joy into the life of an 86 year old woman named Zoila today. She’s part of Encore Community Services, an organization that provides seniors with a range of caring and quality services to help them live independent and dignified lives.

I was asked to gave Zoila a drum lesson during my lunch hour, but after about two minutes in, she was the one giving ME a lesson. I learned all about Boléro by Ravel and how much she loves it.

It was fun to play with her and also learn about what life was like in Ecuador when she was younger.

I loved her energy. She’s the kind of person I need to spend more of my time with.
