I’ve been watching some interesting movies with my daughter this week. She had me check this out because it’s her favorite food-related movie-right behind 100 Foot Journey and Julie and Julia.
After seeing this movie, it made me hungry. It also made me want to travel again.
When I was on the show Footloose 21 years ago, I had the chance to see just how beautiful this country is. I met so many great people and had some incredible regional cuisine. It’s one of the many things that makes this country special.
After we finished the movie, plans were being made in my mind to take my family on a road trip across the country as soon as “school” is over. I’d LOVE to do that this summer. There is so much for me to show my kids and girlfriend. I’d have them taste the difference in regional BBQ. There is a difference between Kansas City, Memphis, the Carolinas, and Texas BBQ. Fish tacos in southern CA are the BEST! New Orleans cooking? So damn good. Chicago pizza, Maine Lobster rolls…I could go on and on.
This film captured some of that. The characters in the movie stopped in places I had either recently visited (Austin/Miami) or loved, like New Orleans.
I’ll find a way to make the trip one day. When I put my mind to it, I usually get things done.
I’m wondering if I should go across the top of the US or go down and across.
Have you driven across the country yet? Also, have you seen this movie?
