I watched a documentary on Netflix called “Iverson” this afternoon. I saw it before, but I wanted to check it out again. Wow, the story of Allen Iverson. He was quite an influence on the league and on many players in the NBA.
But this guy?!?
He was my hero from the late 70’s and early 80’s.
Who is this? His name is Julius Erving, also known as Dr. J. A legend and another Philadelphia 76er like Allen Iverson. He’s still so cool.
When I get a chance to talk to NBA players, I ask who their top 5 players of all time are (not including themselves.
He said his haven’t changed since he was 13.
1) Bill Russell
2) Wilt Chamberlain
3) Elgin Baylor
4) Oscar Robertson
5) Jerry West
I asked him if he, Magic and Larry would be on the list. He said, “‘We’d be on the second team…”
Modest, but look, he was a bad motherf*cker on and off the court.
When they bring famous broadway legends backstage at Ain’t Too Proud, I’m always like “who?!?”
Music and sports stars? Hell yeah!! I’m all over them. It was so cool meeting someone like him.
When is Lenny Kravitz coming? Just sayin.’
