I checked out a really nice Latin music trio at The Rum House after work last night.

I forgot how cool this place can be and how it often has interesting music. A group called Trio Cachimbo was playing and they were amazing musicians. I had the chance to meet and talk shop with some of the guys after a break.

It’s great getting to know new musicians.  Marcus Persiani (piano) and Jose “Peptio” Gomez (percussion) gave me a bunch of albums/artists to listen to on my quest to study a music that I’ve always found fascinating – Afro-Cuban. 

 

I’m gonna start digging in the crates (or search my streaming services) for some of the influential albums and artists they suggested I listen to.
